Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a three year long professional Post-Graduate (PG) programme, approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and conduct by almost all the Universities of India.
The MCA is a senior-level course that prepares professionals to meet the COMPLEX DEMANDS of the IT industry. It emphasizes on planning, designing, and building of complex commercial application software and system software, business management, and mathematics.
The duration of the MCA course is a total of THREE academic years. It is a full-time postgraduate course offered by many colleges/Universities situated in India.
This course has been divided into SIX semesters with a duration of six months each. The first year of this course focuses on the skill developments in computers, the second year is aimed at providing a conceptual framework, and the third year offers the specializations and project work.
According to AICTE, to pursue an MCA course, candidates must have pursued BCA/ BSc/ BCom/ BA degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or graduation level.
If you pursue the MCA course from a well-recognized university, you will get the better jobs and career opportunities in this field. You can work in both Public Sector (Government Sector) and Private Sectors.
In the private sector, there are Multi-National companies (MNC’s) that recruit the BCA graduates for any of the posts such as Software Engineer, Project Manager, Computer System Analyst, and Computer Programmer, etc.
To get admission in MCA, students have to give a WRITTEN TEST. If the student fulfills the Eligibility Criteria (as mentioned above), then he can participate in the written test. Different Universities/Colleges conduct separate test papers.
In most of the universities written test, questions are asked from Mathematics, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, General English, and Computer Awareness. There is also a difference in their WEIGHTAGE in different University Exams.
